If i move from here and go over there and sit with my democrat friends, which will make them real nervous, does google track my movement? Does google, through this phone know that i have moved here and moved over to the left not by default? There may be a google service which you've opted in to use uh and if so, google knows that i am moving over there. It's it's not a trick question. You know you make a hundred million dollars a year. You ought to be able to answer that question.

Does google know through this phone that i am moving over there and sitting next to mr johnson? Yes, they opted in it's their service, though dude yeah yeah, you do when you accept, like 20 million pages of everything on all your devices yeah you opt-in. What about it, i can't say yes or no just don't opt-in, no, no more details, yes or no. I think google obviously does. Would you agree to allow an independent entity to study your search results for political bias? I know you've have individuals studying that now, but you appointed them.

Would you allow a third-party independent outside organization to study their search results and cooperate with them to determine the degree or, if any, of political bias? Today there have been independent third-party studies. Looking at search results the economist, but you chose those third parties, i'm talking about someone truly independent uh. We didn't choose those third parties, i mean they completed those studies. If you google, the word idiot under images, the picture of donald trump comes up.

I just did that, okay, how would that happen? How does so, oh, my god that would occur? Oh my god anytime, you type in your keyword, guys. How much should they have? How much time do they have with these people when they go to these? Like uh hearings, whatever they're like an hour, something like that, don't have much time right. How much time do you have right? How did they have so little time with some of the incredibly powerful people right and they asked things you could literally google. We have crawled.

We've gone out and crawled and stole as like a low tier anybody in our industry, very powerful, rich match it against web pages and rank them based on over 200 signals things like relevant hours, freshness popularity, how other people are using it, and based on that, you Know at any given time we try to rank and find the best results for that query, and then we evaluate them at the external graders uh to make sure that and they evaluate it to objective guidelines and and that's how we make sure the process is well. It's not some little man sitting behind the curtain figuring out what we're going to show the user. It's basically a compilation of what users are generating and trying to sort through that information, and we don't. You know manually, intervene on any particular search result.

I have a seven-year-old granddaughter: oh picked up her phone before the election and she's playing a little game kind of game, a kid would play and up on there, pops a picture of her grandfather and i'm not going to say into the record what kind of language Was used around that picture of her grandfather, but i'd ask you: how does that show up on a seven-year-old's iphone who's playing a kids game? Congressman uh iphone is made by a different company, and so you know i mean it might have been an android. It's just it was a hand-me-down of some kind, also to my knowledge, you've never sanctioned any employee or any type of for manipulating the research results whatsoever. Is that the case it's not possible for an individual, employee or groups of employees to manipulate our search results? You know we have a robust framework uh, including many steps in the process, and my time is up. Let me just say i disagree.
I think humans can manipulate the process. It is a human process at its face. Thank you, mr chairman. You're back, have you considered having an online school that people could go to with a google rep? You could kind of log in and kind of ask questions or have google and and not like comcast, where you get put on hold for 30 minutes and then find somebody who you can't understand man.

This is tough. The most confusing question comments. How many data categories do you store on the categories that you collect? Senator look at his space. Look at his face on the categories that you collect.

Senator. Can you clarify what you mean by category there's some past reports that have been out there that indicate that it that facebook collects about 96 data categories for those two billion active users? That's 192 billion data points that are being generated. I think at any time from consumers globally. So how many do you does facebook store? Out of that? Do you store any senator, i'm not actually sure what that is referring to.

Could somebody call you up and say i want to see john kennedy's file. Absolutely not. Could you, if not not, could you not, would you do it? Could you do it in in theory, do you have the right to put my data, a name on my data and share it with somebody? I do not believe we have the right to do that. You have the ability senator the data is in the system, so you have the ability technically.

I think someone could do that, but that would be a massive breach, so we would never do that. It would be a very thing. Are you willing to change your business model in the interest i go to the bank and say technically? Could somebody at the bank transfer my money to somebody else's accounts uh yeah of protecting individual privacy congresswoman we are have made and are continuing to make changes to reduce the amount of. Are you willing to change your business model in the interest of protecting individual privacy? Congresswoman, i'm not sure what that means.

If i choose to terminate my facebook account, can i borrow facebook or any third parties from using the data that i had previously supplied uh for any purpose whatsoever? Yes, senator. If you delete your account, we should get rid of all of your information. You should, or we do do you we do, how about third parties that you have um contracted with? Do you use it some of that agreement perhaps to target advertising uh for themselves? I'm pretty sure you can't really terminates it's. Not even a thing can't do do you with do you claw back that information as well or does that remain in there senator this is actually a very important question.
I'm glad you brought this up because there's a a very common misperception about facebook, that we sell data to advertisers and we do not sell data to advertisers. Well, you don't sell data literally rented um, quite a story right out in my facebook like a month ago. I went through settings i had like. I had to look to something and the settings on this website are now insane.

It is impossible to find as like a boomer, but this is like a library. It's like a bible full of it's like dude. What am i looking at that you guys are only unnavigable. Do you agree with that? Senator mostly undefeated, you couldn't do this in china right or what you did well senator there are.

There are some very strong chinese internet companies right but you're supposed to answer. Yes to this question: even if facebook doesn't earn money from selling data, doesn't facebook earn money from advertising based on that data? Yes, congresswoman! That's how advertising we run ads. That's the the business model is running ads. How do you sustain a business model in which users don't pay for your service? Senator we run ads.

That was that wasn't that was insane christ, okay! Well, what an eye opener man, um nice.

It’s funny that 70-80 year olds are mostly regarded as unemployable due to mental and physical decline… yet they exclusively run the country.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dive Monkey says:

I hate to admit it, but the boomers are right. They don't know what they're talking about, but they are right that google violates its user's privacy and sells their data. Regardless of if you "opt out", you agreed to the terms and services before using any google services. To be fair apple does this too; I'm not a fan of either

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mercy Charles says:

Scary. I'm in my 30s and I accept there are lots of things that I don't understand, but watching these people just a few decades older, cling to power and in doing so, show how ignorant they are. Makes you understand why the younger gens have no faith in these people 😆

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lvi Here says:

its really depressing that my life is in the hands of people who might as well be too old and ignorant to know how to change the volume on their phone

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars [GD] ottothegamer says:

Somehow my 50+ years old mom who's not really deep into technology still have a better understanding of what the internet is

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tithi says:

The problem with this kind of older people is that they are sometimes simply too ignorant to understand the arguments/statements from the other side.
These people are not "stupid" but only want to accept their own truth and do not even consider the statements of the other side.
And the fact that they think they are 100% right and superior to the other makes it even more unpleasant.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Arbiter says:

I mean the first question wasent really wrong they can track your phone without a 3rd patty service and even if your turn off GPS

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Elie Nasr says:

"Can you shoot and kill a man"
-Senator, that would be a major crime and i would never do that
    "You wouldn't, but can you?"
    -Senator, i can
    "Point proven, arrest this man"

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars gnarxy says:

and these are the same old boomer fucks that are completely clueless about tech that are going to regulate and pass laws around cryptocurrencies

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars First In Queue says:

This is why America will never grow unfortunately. There will always be these kind of people in our government. I feel like if you're an elected figure, you need to go through a basic computer usage test. If they can't open google chrome… then shouldn't be running our country.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Liza says:

jokes aside, this quickly becomes an awkward conversation because if we push out these geezers from gov office, we're essentially telling people to retire a lot faster than we are currently. i'd love to work until well over my 60's to secure my pension.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Usus Ahaha says:

Google track and store all your data weather you like it or not.

These boomers have got the right idea, but xqc is completely retarded assuming you can just opt out and choose to not be tracked.
