Uncut Gems failed for me because it didn’t make me feel any anxiety or tension. I’m glad others enjoyed it, but I just couldn’t relate to the character’s very bizarre life choices. IMO a stronger example of building tension and anxiety is the introduction to Inglorious Basterds.

Just saying its trash without giving legit good reasons makes me wonder if they actually watched it. I can understand not liking it because of the character and the feeling of anxiety it gives you but trash it is not. Uncut Gems was one of the best movies of 2019
“When Adam Sandler cries I don’t know how to feel”
Yeah that’s what crying is like, it’s ugly and messy, the director’s purposely avoided the crying seeming like it does in every other movie (not literally every other movie). Adam Sandler walks the fine line between sympathetic and scumbag and that crying confusing you is because when a real person lays all his emotions out in front of you it’s uncomfortable.
