I've found that the best way to play a Metro game is by doing a long play the first time, exploring everything and playing on a low difficulty. After the first playthrough, do it again but on Ranger Hardcore. I am on my fourth playthrough, the first one was normal/easy and the other three have been Ranger Hardcore, two spartan playstyles and one survivalist. I love Metro 2033, it is by far my favorite game.
I did both 2033 and last light on Ranger Hardcore, precision, focus and logistic are 100% crucial when I saw him run over all those ammo, filters, grenades and money I went so anxious that I turned off my phone, re-installed metro redux and played it my way (the Ranger Hardcore way)
