Ngl, I feel what Soda was saying. Every time a new game releases and its a really good one that I've been waiting for for a while, there are 3 things that would annoy me, #1 if it's an MMO but you can't customize your character, #2 if the main character is a female, #3 Genderlocked classes.
Not to sound like an incel, I'm fine with women being in the spotlight for once, but I'm a dude and I prefer to play as a dude, so if I'm presented with multiple hype game ads where the character you play is exclusively female, I'm gonna be angry. When I played Black Desert for the first time, I was angry that the majority of the classes were females, and all of the overpowered classes were also female, encouraging the players to play female characters. And every new class that would be released was most likely female. It's not even just to give women a turn to be in the spotlight, the character would most likely be sexualized in some way. I'd be fine with a gender neutral character, because at least then I can leave it to my imagination and it's actually more fun that way.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I'll play a female character, and I'm not saying they should stop making the MC of these games female, I think it's pretty balanced, seeing as majority of games advertised have male MCs. I'm just voicing that I also get this frustration and I'm pretty sure a lot of other dudes do too. We're just so used to male protags that this kinda thing feels unnatural. I mean a lot of our childhood games had male protagonists, so you can't blame us for being a lil frustrated.
