5. that comment about their music being nothing special and not worthy enough to generate so much hate is true. You can get away with saying all their songs sound similar though. Everything is using the same chords/progressions almost every song is very simple and thats fine. still sounds good.

Nickelback was one of the biggest and earliest victims of a song being overplayed to the point where people start to hate/dislike it, the same thing happened to Justin Bieber when baby came out the song was overplayed and people started to hate on Justin Bieber and more recently lil nas x with old town road but on a much smaller scale since lil nas x really didn’t receive all that much hate and it was just the song that people found annoying.

10. I remember there was some mild hate about Nickelback before 2003. Pretty sure people were making jokes since their 2000 Album with the "How You Remind Me" song and later the Spiderman movie theme "Hero" song about it being cheesy or something. It was never a direct attack but people just used them as the quintessential example of all alternative rock music being the most popular genre aside pop at the time as the soft and safe commercialized version of rock music for the mainstream media. Comments from those who took those comments serious or that actually disliked the band would complain about them "sounding the same". People still listen to it then anyway but memes can get out of hand.
