8. My problem is with how everyone twisted what she said. Of course she articulated her point poorly by referring to past atrocities caused by western countries making it seem as if it was okay at the time, but she also clearly said she doesn't condone whatever is happening in the UAE. Somehow, all people chose to get from her statements was 'Botez supports slavery'. Her main point about westerners' hypocrisy was very much valid. We all know no one would say the same if the event was held in, for example, the US – a country that's basically destroyed the Middle East killing millions in its pursuit for oil among other things. Because the country in question is "an enemy country" i.e. Islamic, it'll always be under way more scrutiny. Just like her though, I don't agree with these crimes independent of which country commits it.

9. she didn't even need to apologize.. she didn't say slavery was okay and defended/justified it. she was just calling out the hypocrisy of those people who talk shit about other countries for slavery while their own country did the same thing and was built off of slavery.. not only that but they also stole it from its native people but okay I guess.. also I'm from UAE and I'm not offended I understand her point and I hate how things work here but sadly i can't do anything about it other than wish that things would change.
